My IUI is TOMORROW!

Today was u/s monitoring day! It went well, very well in fact. My mom came with in case I needed to be drove home because I knew if it was bad news I wouldn't be able to drive. I also though given her background in since she would find it rather cool to see my insides, I know I find it cool.

We arrive on time and I am trying to stay calm. I was nervous because I didn't surge on my own today like they wanted me too, but I NEVER get + opks so this didn't surprise me. Normally if buy cd 14 you don't get a +opk then you come in the next day. However I wanted to come in early. My GUT said come in on cd 14, R and I knew that this could mean we would need extra monitoring on Saturday but we decided it was worth that chance.

Well my gut was right! I was very thankful to have come in early, because while tomorrow would have been fine, today was perfect timing according to the u/s tech. My lining today was wonderful. I had been praying for anything between 8 and 9 and honestly anything above 7 would be fine but I really wanted my body to give this the most shot at working, so we really wanted an 8 AND we got it! 8.2 to be exact. She said if she had taken more measurements i could have been as high as 8.5 so I feel great about it! I did a little happy dance on the table and told my uterus "Good job".

As for why this cycle my lining has looked this good. I give 100% credit to my new diet. Honestly all that spinach and high green diet has shown to improve linings and I am a full believe after today! Who knew the South Beach diet would help this much?

Now to my follicles, this made me nervous. On my last u/s at the beginning of seeing this Dr she said one ovary only had four unmature follicles that she could see. Given my age 25 (at least of another month) and my FSH (normal) she should have seen 7 or even 8. She said sometimes that just happens and other times it tells us something. However she said what mattered most was how I responded. Well I have been having 'pain' and a fullness sensation for three days now. I have 2 mature follicles a 21.9 and a 17.6 then trailing behind I have a 15.2, a 14.9 and lastly a 14.2. The last two won't mature in time and the 15.2 has a 50% chance of being mature by ovulation. Either way R decided two days ago that he was okay with triggering with 3 follicles and so I said "LETs DO THIS!"

We turned off the u/s and I was given a print out of my response for my records. Igot dressed and my nurse came in to give me the trigger shot. As soon as she came in I freaked. Have I mentioned I am scared of needles? Oh yes, that is right I have. I didn't want to see the shot and I didn't but when she told me it went into my belly I freaked out.

How in the hell did I miss the fact that a trigger shot is given in the abdomen??? Seriously!?! How did I miss that?

I did let her give it to me and I wasn't too much of a baby. My mom said I did fine but I have to admit I wanted to cry. It pinched going in and out but didn't burn like she said it might. Over all it was fine, physically it was easy, emotionally it was hard but I think that is normal given my extreme fear of those things.

Now I wait. Tomorrow I have my IUI at 9:30 am. R has to go in early at 7 am to give his 'deposit'. I am a little bummed. Our normal office is booked so we have to go to the one further away. It's only 20minutes further but in the am that 20 minutes extra is really 35 wich means R will have to produce his 'deposit' at the office rather than at home. I have yet to tell him this. I know it isn't a HUGE deal but I am afraid for R it is a big deal. He would much rather do it at home than in the lab. It will be okay though.

I have done a TON of research about this whole proccess and things that increase your chances. I don't want to mess with my life too much but I have read a study I want to share with all of you. It has to do with hot vs cold food in the 2ww. The results from the study aren't conclusive but preliminary results showed that IVF patients who ate warm foods in the 2ww, such as soups, tea, and such had higher success rates than those who preferred to drink cold or cool things in the 2ww.

So on top of my pineapple that I will eat starting tomorrow, and all the green foods I will also be eating more warm foods. I have already taken out of the fridge my caffeine free cola and also went and bought some tea to have because I don't like warm water. I am hoping this all helps, time will tell.

PS Mom did like being there and thought the whole thing was very cool. It was good bonding time for us and I am very glad she came with.

Diet Update

On Thursday I went to a regular Dr appt to get my hip checked out. I had fallen on it while up visiting my sis in Washington. While there I got good news and more good news. After the nurse took my blood pressure and temperature she wanted to weigh me. I happily got on their scale and nearly passed out when it read -4 from last weigh in. I was shocked! (but hold your applause about it because it wasn't accurate). Then I had to get undressed from the waist down since it was my hip that hurt. I nearly LOL when she acted like getting undressed from the waist down was a big deal. Little does she know that ALL my appts seem to involve nudity at this point! Then more good news from the dr my hip isn't broken but just a badly pulled muscle.

So back to how much I have lost: I went home only to find out that I really had only lost 3 pounds. :( Three pounds is great but I would LOVE to have lost that extra pound. This brings total weight loss to 10 pounds!

I have lost my first sack of potatoes and it feels amazingly good. I am very proud of myself.I also added a ticker at the bottom of the page to keep track of the weight loss. Thanks for all your support ladies.

A good chunk of change!

It isn't Monday yet but I did a weigh in anyway. I lost 5 pounds this week for a total of 7 pounds in two weeks! I am so happy about it. I can't wait till it is a total of10 pounds. WOOOO HOOOO for me. I am so proud of myself because that is a good chunk of change off my body. I now weigh what I did at the end of summer. Most days I am super good about the diet and it does get easier the more often I am good.

The hard part for me is MEAT. I can do chicken 4 to 5 nights a week if I can eat carbs but when I can't I die of boredom from the chicken. Thus we have had three nights of steak! It was all lower fat steak but still. This week I want to only do two beef nights. That is completely do able as long as DH will allow fish one night. He doesn't eat ANY seafood and I love the stuff. So if I have fish he cooks something else for himself because I refuse to cook two meals a night.

Today we spent the day with A (boy) and N (girl), twins who are now 4th graders. I watched them as infants and toddlers, and helped their mom's though an awful break up/divorce. They are also IVF babies so their mom's "get it". N loves babies, she asked me twice today about babies. I told her that sometimes people have a harder time getting pg and she seemed to instantly understand. Maybe that is because she knows the Dr helped her mommy with her, or maybe it is a child's 6th sense, but either way she understood.

R had such a good time with both of them and I was so happy to see that both A and N adore him too. We went to the park, played video games, set up a new doll house and I held their pet rat. It was a great day and next month we plan on doing it again. Their little sis G came by with her mom D and picked up N at the end of the day. G was so jealous and I felt bad but she sees me all the time. A and N don't.

HSG for the 'right price'

I got a call back today from our clinic and asked about who they recomind for the HSG. They said they had a place about 40 miles away but for 1/2 the price. I got the name and number and sure enough, they just ask for 500 cash! Cash is FINE by me! WooooHoooo for saving 550 dollars! They also said that once it and the S-HSG is done I should do my consult visit! So we are on schedual and moving right along.

I have been eating fairly well this week and staying right on track, however, yesterday I pulled a mucle doing a workout video. :( That means taking the exercise part easy this weekend.

No AF

AF isn't here yet. :( That makes me angry.....

I know that is wierd to say but after I test BFN I really just want AF to show. After all, if I am not pg then we might as well move onto the next cycle, right? This week I want AF to show up extra badly. Because not only was late cycle awful having to wait so long for her to show but now this cycle I need the HSG and S-HSG on anywhere between cd9-11. Also I am throwing a party this weekend and I don't want to be cramping while trying to be a good hostiest. Plus I can't drink on Soma, which I sometimes need to just function when my cramps get bad. So PLEASE if AF is visiting you send her my way before this weekend.

In diet news I am doing okay. I am hungry right now and after I blog I am getting myself a snack. The first week of the diet is always the hard part for me. I want suger, I crave it and weaning my body off it is hard phisicly and emotionaly. At least tonight for dinner we are having tri-tip with artichokes, glazed onions and green beans. Yummy. My mom will be joining us for dinner too so I will be here to keep her on task too. She already told me she has cheated but I know that as hard as this is for me it is 50 times harder to her. At least we have each other to keep us honest, and quite frankly as long as she keeps the ice cream out of her house I know she will lose weight.

Day two... of my diet

I have been think about turning this blog partly into a weightloss blog because God knows I need to lose some weight. My goal is 35 pounds and to keep it off. I would love to lose about 20 pounds by my Birthday in May. My mom is about to have a lap bad procedure to lose weight but first she also needs to lose about 30 pounds. So together yesterday we both had our first day of South Beach Diet. I am already craving carbs and suger but so far no loss of will power. Saturday we are hosting a party at our house and so I will be breaking my South Beach diet then. Partly because I don't want my guests to have to suffer for my diet but mostly because I would love to cheat and there is no way I could with stand the want to eat chocolate cake. However the best thing about SB is that comming back to it is so easy. I will be having a weigh in once a week on Mondays so exspect updates then. I would also like to thank Kristen author of I would Diet for That because her post about losing a sack of potatoes inspired me to finally start SB again. Wish me luck everyone.
